Thank you for your interest to serve on the NOCIA Board of directors
There are many ways you can be a part of our society. Some positions are more formal, but there are many volunteer positions available. Here is a quick list of requirements and expectations that is common to all of the positions. As a member of the board you will not have any expected out-of pocket costs. NOCIA does not reimburse driving miles for the board when driving to meetings or conferences.
The member should:
- Be able to attend a majority of meetings. Attendance to meetings Missing 2 consecutive meetings may be an indication that you longer are able, or want, to serve on the board. Missing 3 consecutive meetings or a majority of the meetings through out the year will move the board to ask for your resignation. This is only fair since every member of the team is important and essential when planning meetings.
- Be willing to learn common technologies. Being able to use word and spreadsheet software is important to be able to plan for a conference. If you are not familiar with programs such as these, we only ask that you are open and willing to learn.
If the member is asked to complete a task, they should be able to communicate with the rest of the team if the task is not able to be completed.
- The member should act respectfully towards the other board members and while the decisions are from the collective group, the core board members (President and Treasurer) have the final decision making power.
Be willing to check email, texts, or any communication at least once a day. If you are someone who is not comfortable using email, Facebook, texting, or another form of communication (and are not willing to learn), then this may not be the best fit for you.
